Youth shot dead in Vadamaraadchchi

Unidentified gunmen on a motor cycle coming out from the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) camp in Valveddiththu'rai shot and killed a youth Monday around 10:30 a.m as he was returning home with his sister after being interrogated at the SLA camp, his sister said in her statement. The youth had gone to the SLA camp being summoned by the SLA troops for interrogation after having confiscated his National Identity Card (NIC) in the cordon and search operation held Monday in Kommaantha'rai in Vadamaraadchchi.

The victim was identified as Ananthakuru Parimalan, 29, a resident of Che'niyampai, Kommaantha'rai.

The gunmen coming out from the SLA camp in Valveddiththu'rai on a motorcycle were the persons who shot and killed Parimlan, his sister who had accompanied him to the SLA camp said.

Valveddiththu'rai police recovered the body and handed it over to Valveddiththu'rai government hospital Monday evening.
