The identity of the male whose decapitated body with signs of severe torture was recovered Friday by Nelliyadi police, near a bridge 400m from Kapputhoo Sri Lanka Army (SLA) main camp along Kuyilangka’ndi Road, has been identified by the victim’s wife, sources in Point Pedro said. Kapputhoo is located between Thenmaraadchi and Vadamaraadchi.

The victims’ wife identified the body Saturday at Manthikai government hospital as that of her husband Ponnampalam Jeyakumar, 48, from Kalvayal, Chaavakacherai.

The victim was abducted by unidentified armed men operating in a vehicle while he was playing with his children in front of his house Monday 8th August night, according to complaints made by the victim’s wife with the Jaffna office of Human Rights Commission (HRC).

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) enforced power cut was in force during the night of the abduction.

After the post mortem examination the body was handed over to his wife, on the instructions of Point Pedro district Additional Magistrate, Mr.Alex Rajah.

Jeyakumar's killing was the third killing within the last two weeks in the area where bodies were found beheaded after abduction.
